Andrew Fagerheim
Co-Founder, Central New York Youth Climate Summit
Andrew Fagerheim is a youth climate leader from Homer, New York. During his time in Homer, he led multiple youth-driven climate action projects including a solar charging station for electronics, co-founded the annual Central New York Youth Climate Summit, and presented at youth climate summits around the state. Andrew served as the Assistant Coordinator of the Village of Homer’s sustainability taskforce from 2019-2020. In the fall of 2020, the Village became the first and only municipality in New York to earn Climate Smart Communities certification through the leadership of young people.
In November 2021, Andrew attended the UN’s COP26 climate conference in Glasgow, Scotland as a delegate for The Wild Center’s Youth Climate Program, where he advocated for youth participation and climate change education as essential components of climate action. This summer, Andrew worked as a research intern at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory on a project quantifying small-scale temperature anomalies in the ocean. Andrew is currently a rising junior at Columbia University majoring in Earth and Environmental Engineering.
