The Art of Storytelling

Sharona Shnayder

Sharona Shnayder is a Nigerian/Israeli climate and peace activist, National Geographic Young Explorer, Chairwoman of Social Justice Nonprofit Ourstreets PDX and Founder of the global grassroots movement Tuesdays for Trash that is tackling the garbage crisis facing our planet. Despite how intimidating climate change often feels, in 2020 she chose to channel her fear into mobilizing a movement that has now brought people from 60+ countries together to remove over 60 tons of litter from our environment in 6/7 continents. She believes that the home we share is more than just soil under our feet but a language. One we all understand with the potential to bring the world together in ways we’ve been taught to forget. That’s why she co-wrote Journey to Away, a children’s book helping the next generation turn waste into action and hope

Ganyah Goldstein

Ganyah Goldstein, age 28, became connected with dolphins at the age of 3, an experience she describes as a mixture of love, beauty, and awe that made her realise, even as a small child, what a gift it is to share a planet with creatures like that.
She reflects that the early wonder turned into something heavier around age 14, when she began learning about the scale of poaching, deforestation, and overfishing reshaping the natural world. She made a decision that has shaped the rest of her life: that protecting the natural world would be her mission, and that the most effective way to do it was not to act alone, but to bring people together around the same sense of wonder that first moved her.
Ganyah grew up partly in Los Angeles and is now based in London. She holds an integrated bachelor’s and master’s degree in Wild Animal Biology and Wildlife Health Science and spent time setting up the Orangutan Health Project in Borneo, where she remains an advisor. Her most recent professional chapter has shifted toward full-time conservation storytelling; curating and hosting wildlife travel experiences in collaboration with conservation organisations and using content and narrative to scale up what she once did one rescued species at a time: make people fall in love with the natural world enough to want to protect it.

Casey Mannis

Casey Mannis is a 33-year-old boat captain, pilot, fly-fishing guide, and freelance photographer. He grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he spent the first 22 years of my life before hitting the road. Between the Alaskan Summer fly fishing seasons, he spends his time traveling the world, checking off one bucket list item at a time – and capturing photographs along the way. Casey specializes in both adventure and wildlife photography, through which he takes a creative approach in sharing with the world the magnificence hidden within the crevices of Mother Earth.
